Jacob Axelrod
Jake is a passionate advocate for workers. He takes pride assisting clients in employment issues. Jake represents unions and employees on a wide range of labour and employment law matters. He has substantial experience dealing with wrongful dismissals, collective agreement disputes, union organizing issues, human rights complaints, disability benefits disputes, and many other workplace matters. Jake has represented clients across a wide range of industries, including public sector work, construction, industrial plants, financial services, health care, mining, municipal services, any many other trades.
Jake has appeared before labour relations boards, labour arbitrators, human rights tribunals, all levels of Court in Alberta, as well as other adjudicative bodies. He has served as union nominee on labour arbitration boards, and spoken at conferences concerning developments and best practices in labour law. Jake also teaches at the University of Alberta law school as a sessional instructor. Jake was called to the Alberta bar in 2016.
Outside of work, Jake enjoys hiking and otherwise trying to spend time in the mountains. He pays too much attention to most professional sports, and seeks to check off a new travel destination at least once a year.
