Born and raised in Edmonton, David was called to the bar in 2023 and received his Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of Alberta in 2022 and his Bachelor of Music from MacEwan University in 2016. During his time at law school, David volunteered with Student Legal Services and was heavily involved with Law Show, serving as the Band group’s director in his final year.

Prior to joining Nugent Law in 2025, David articled and practiced at a regional full-service law firm as a civil litigator, where he focused on a variety of practice areas, including employment, construction, environmental, and indigenous law and appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta. David is a passionate advocate for worker’s rights and is excited to practice union-side labour law.

Outside of work, David is an avid bass player and music enthusiast who frequently attends local independent shows as both a performer and an audience member. David also enjoys running and cycling in the river valley, reading, collecting records and CDs, and watching far too much Star Trek.
