Rohit joined Nugent Law Office in 2020 as an articling student after graduating from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. Prior to attending law school, he received his Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction from the University of Alberta.
Rohit went to law school to pursue progressive legal work. In and out of the classroom, he built a strong foundation for a public interest career. He worked as a doorknocker for the NDP and volunteered for their youth caucus. At that same time, he shadowed representatives at a labour union to gain a better understanding of their day-to-day operations. Rohit interned at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, advocating for low-income clients during social benefits appeals and was an active member of his law school’s human rights club.
Rohit attributes his passion for public interest work to his immigrant parents, whose efforts often went unrecognized by employers. He is excited to be a part of a team of union-side labour lawyers committed to helping everyday people like his parents. In his free time, Rohit enjoys hiking, listening to podcasts, producing music, and spending time with friends and family.
Rohit is also conversant in Punjabi.
